Thinking about part exchange?
A little preparation makes the first conversation much more useful.
Gather the basics
Have the registration, current mileage, service information and details of the car’s specification to hand. Mention any outstanding finance so the dealer can explain what information it needs.
Describe it accurately
Tell the dealer about the condition, known faults and any previous repairs you are aware of. Photographs can help with an initial conversation, but an inspection may be needed before a firm value is agreed.
Compare the complete change
Look at the price of your next car and the agreed value of your current one together. Make sure any fees and settlement figures are clear in writing.
Prepare for handover
Ask what documents, keys and accessories to bring. Remove personal information from the infotainment system and collect belongings before the agreed handover.
